Geophysics
Saminu OLATUNJI is a Professor of Applied Geophysics in the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, with 17 years of university teaching, research, and administrative experience.
He has served as Sub-Dean of Faculty, Postgraduate coordinator, Examination officer, Student year-level adviser, and Head of Department. His areas of research interest span Groundwater and Environmental studies, Mineral exploration, Energy resources, software development, and the fabrication of instruments in Applied Geophysics.
He has to his credit over seventy (70) publications in reputable outlets covering journals, edited conference proceedings, and chapters in books. He has successfully supervised over 15 M.Sc. dissertations and 12 Ph.D. theses. To his distinction, he has invented and patented Geophysical equipment. He also invented software to automate data processing and interpretation of the Geoelectrical radial sounding technique. He won software grants worth USD 2.631 million for the University.
Professor Olatunji is a registered member of the Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) and many other professional bodies within and outside Nigeria.
